Listen @ The Vermillion Art Gallery and Bar

How often have you spoken your truth only to have the words dissipate in empty rooms or fall on uncompassionate ears?  "Listen" explores the human need to be heard and validated. Bring your emotions: anger, joy, grief , ennui, exuberance, and gratitude. We are creating space for the audience to bear witness.

Opening Nov. 14th at Vermillion Art Gallery, newcomer Monica Tie invites established & emerging artists Natasha MarinYoona LeeRohena Alam Khan, and Carolyn Hitt to elaborate on stories unheard. This audio,  visual, and interactive experience challenges the need to respond when all that's been asked is that you...Listen.

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: Contribute your own stories to "Listen" by submitting anonymous recordings or written excerpts to "Listen" at by Nov. 4th.

"Listen" is a collaborative project curated by Monica Tie on behalf of Blue Cone Studios

Meet and Greet at The Riveter Fremont

Screen Shot 2019-09-03 at 1.15.04 PM.png

You may have noticed some new artwork around the space... this is by fellow Riveter member Monica Tie! Monica is a software engineer turned visual artist. Her abstract paintings pull from her use of nature as a source of calm and inspiration. She uses alcohol ink and watercolor to create immersive paintings and moods that are a reflection of contemplative moments. Her work has been shown in the Kirkland Arts Center, Belltown Art Walk and she is a regular artist in the Capitol Hill Art Walk. She is an active member of Blue Cone Studios, an artist collective dedicated to seeking out, collaborating with, supporting and promoting local bipoc, queer, and neurodivergent artists within Seattle.

On Wednesday, September 5th, stop by the second-floor kitchen for a meet and greet to chat with Monica about her work and enjoy light bites and refreshments!
